You know how some names conjur images of the person. What image does Nina conjur in your mind?

A bit hippy and alternative, but that's because both Nina's I know are like that! Very pretty.

Ps it's my DH's ex's name so has negative connotations for me but despite that I still like it Smile

Very petite and very beautiful. Sharp witted but funny with it, clever and kind.

I only know one Nina, she is 87 but she is all of the above.

I was considering nina and when I suggested it to dh he said no straight away. When I asked why ge said 'it was the name of one of Christopher columbus's ships'. Apparently that was sufficient to close the discussion.
I was left going wTF???? ConfusedGrin

I still like it Smile

Firstly, strong, independant...my friend Nina left home at fifteen, she's still not returned to England. I know she studied at an American College/University and works as a nurse now but not in America (the last time I spoke to her age had left Washington for the Virgin Islands.

Love it. It would be on our short list, but doesn't go with our chosen mn.

BTW, Columbus's ship was the Niña, with a tilde over the second n. So pronounced neen-ya.

But middle-aged for me.

Very delicate and small, blonde wispy hair, a bit insubstantial in personality.

Dainty and dark haired. Spanish looking with a severe bun like a flamenco dancer.

Small and slight and dark haired, Welsh? Even though she's petite she's really ballsy.

Pretty positive images so far.

I'm a bit worried by the associations with being small though. I'm nearly 6ft so my daughter is likely to be tall too. Do people think that matters?

If your DD is tall then people she knows will come to associate the name 'Nina' with tall people Smile

Ps no it doesn't matter at all. No one is going to say to her 'what, you can't be called Nina, Nina's are small!'

I'm not wild about Nina but it has the advantage of being very international (if that matters to you).

I know two fantastic Ninas- adult and child. Lovely pretty name and I like the international-ness of it too. Def on my list.

Pretty Ballerina! (i.e. the Abba song!). I do know a grown up Nina (late 30's) who is absolutely lovely. I think it's a great name.
