How would you spell...

Joesph / Joseph / Joeseph ??

Probably a stupid question, I didn't even know there were alternative ways of spelling it until my husband pointed it out. Is there one 'proper' way?

Um, surely Joseph is the only way to spell it?

Joseph. It is my elder DS' name and I adore it.

The second one. Never seen the others!

Joseph, never saw/heard of the other ways. Have seen Josef as well. Such a lovely name if you don't mind my saying so!

everyone spells it Joseph

It's Joseph or I have seen Josef used before but I think that tends to be a European spelling. The other 'spellings' are just mistakes!

God knows what baby name list he found the others on! Maybe they're 'trendy' new spellings...? Glad I wasn't alone in my confusion.

The others are absolutely horrendous

Jowzeff?

Seriously, it's Joseph.

Not my name choice anyway. Think I'll suggest there was far too much confusion over spelling, so we're better of going with Joshua. Smile

I'm sure there's a Jozef at DD's school.

I'd definitely go with Joseph. Lovely name!

I have a Joseph. There have never been any spelling complications; he's 8.

No no, it's Geocheuwa.

And Geowsev.

Grin

Both lovely names, but Joseph is the only way to spell Joseph in English, as has already been said.

The two names go well together - so maybe keep Joseph in reserve if Joshua gets a brother later on.
