Hi all

Finding out if our little Bean is a He or a She next Monday, we are sorted for a boys name (Robert, family tradition, Bertie for short) but can't decide on a girls name.

We both like Grace but I don't love it.
I also like Florence, Flora, Ivy, Rose & Orla but DH isn't convinced.

We both like Matilda but our surname sounds very similar to (and is often misheard as) McKenna, does the first name and surname sound to similar? Middle name will be Ann.

Also, I know parents can't always control nicknames, but I'm not a massive fan of Tilly, do you think Matilda would always get shortened to this?

Any other suggestions also welcome!

Thanks

If your surname has three syllables too it's a bit of a mouthful...and every Matilda I know gets shortened to Tilly.

What about:
Martha
Esther
Felicity
Harriet
Evelyn (nn Evie?)

Our Matilda is shortened to Mattie. Have never used Tilly, or Tilda, or Milly

I don't think they sound too similar. I like alliteration though. I don't think Tilly is an inevitable nickname, there's Tilda, Mattie, Maud, etc.

Ivy is beautiful and would fit well with a three syllable last name.
Congratulations. Please post back and let us know if baby is a blue or a pink bean.
