Fabulous name. Positive connotations for me from reading or being read a book in childhood about a Harriet who had fun and did stuff.

I love it too, it's on my list. I'm just not 100% on Hattie, as I knew one I didn't like. I prefer Hettie but not sure I could make it stick.

DS is two weeks old but would have been Harriet if he'd been a DD. Love it.

BlueStar could you go for Harry as a nn? Boys names as nn for girls seems to be quite popular and can be rather cute.

I think it's a very unattractive sound.

Beautiful elegant and pretty name. Love Hattie as well.
Congratulations btw.

It's one of our top contenders for DD due in March.

I think it's a lovely name but it really has to go with your surname.

Riverland · 04/11/2014 02:00

Harri or Ettie are great nn's.

SnoringNorma · 04/11/2014 02:55

I love it... as long as your surname isn't Abun!

Great name. No need for abbreviation- beautiful as it is.

I find it rather harsh and unfeminine sounding, sorry.

Report
squoosh · 04/11/2014 10:34

I think it's such an ugly name. Its current popularity truly baffles me.

Sorry.

Same here. It honestly reminds me of hairy toilet. A cross between the two.

What about Juliet
Similar style but a nicer sound

Hairy toilet Grin Shock!

I agree that Juliet, Violet or Annette are much nicer than Harriet.
