I suppose it's OK as a nickname for Hazel.

do you mean as in Purple?

Or as in car manual?

What is the ethnicity of your dp's colleague? If it's a traditional name in a culture you're connected with, fine, otherwise no. It's a weather condition, not a baby name, in my view.

I don't like it much myself - I prefer names with a reason -ie named after a loved one, or a strong meaning

I don't know but I quit like Blaize.

American cheerleader I reckon.

coffeeinbed · 11/03/2014 20:45

No.
It's something that's muddled up, unclear and covered.
Not nice associations.

It's the verb for the bullying they do in the army, isn't it? Hazing?

BonaDea · 11/03/2014 20:47

Ridiculous. Sorry.

Not sure on Haze, it does sound like a shortened version of Hazel.

Blaize is the patron saint of sore throats, just so you know.

I thinks it's not a girls name it's not even a name truly truly awful sorry

the colleague was infact named after purple haze!
i don't like hazel not entirely sure why though. it dosnt register as a similar name to me either. i think haze sounds strong & feminine.
i really don't like blaize.
maybe i am losing my ability to think clearly Grin

Sorry, but I think it's awful. It's a 'real' word that most people won't know as a name, but it's not a particularly positive real word.

Maybe if you like this sort of name there are other unisex and/or real word type names that you would like. Blake? (as in Blake Lively) Leighton (that's a boy to me, but there is another Gossip girl actress called that isn't there?)? MacKenzie? Bailey?

Haze = A certain strain of weed

To Haze = (Initiations) To pour disgusting foods and liquids over people and make them carry out humiliating acts.

Not a good name choice! Hate it, sorry.

Haze. There was pony at the riding stables when I was little called Haze.

Not helpful but it was all I could think of saying other than god, no.

I think it sounds pretty though I would assume it was a nickname for Hazel - not sure whether that would bother you or not!

WowserBowser · 11/03/2014 21:22

Don't like it and i like unusual names.

It seems along the same lines as that actress from Shameless who has called her daughter Flame.

It doesn't seem like a name, just a word.

It's a fairly common name for grey ponies. Not people.

This made me stop in my tracks.

Its my DS name, albeit spelt differently and I've never heard of or met another. I had quite a positive response when I put it to MN though!

I (obviously) think it sounds boyish but I do like Hazel for a girl!

I don't really like it sorry- I don't like the use of words that aren't already names as names.

Haze is probably short for Hazel. Nice name.

Similar names include Heather, Helen,
