Anyone from Spain, what do you think of girl name Luisa?

DH is Spanish and likes Luisa for DD2, but not sure what Spanish people think of this name nowadays.

Is this an old-fashioned name reminding of the many Maria Luisas a few decades ago? Or is it a name not used often now, pretty and refreshing?

What do Spanish people think of this name now?

DH is from Spain and we considered it for DD. It wasn't for us in the end but there was no reason not to have it (unlike every other girl's name I liked. And boy's name come to think of it).

Thank you LaTrucha, what made you decide against it?

I am Spanish and I love it. It is underused and therefore original. Also, it is different from the old Maria Luisas of yesteryear. It was number 2 in my list for dd. I'd def go for it!

The Spanish don't seem to give such a rat's ass about names the way the UK does.
I know plenty of Luisas of all ages.
We had to find an international name for ds - I so wanted to call him Roc (Catalan) but chickened out. Shame, really, as ds woyud have carried it beautifully!

I honestly can't remember. Probaby because it didn't go well with her surname (and I secretly had my heart set on something else which I chose to introduce as an idea after DH had seen me giving birth to her Grin)

Looks like a good choice in this case, I wasn't warmed up to it at first, as I had my heart on Eloisa, but DH thinks that sounds pretentious aside from being an Ex of a close friend. Luisa warms up more to me now so maybe the one.

Know how that feels LaTrucha! Well done :-)
Someone has to give in sometimes...

My DH wanted Eloisa! I had forgotten that. All I could think of was the song by The Damned.

Oh, no that would have put me off as well...
