I like all your names except Tess and Wren. Alexandra and Karla are both nice butI prefer the spelling Carla sorry.

Love Alexandra. Hate the rest, sorry.

Could you change the middle name to Marie instead of Maria to avoid to names with an "a" at the end?

Thanks ladies. At the moment I'm going with Alex- but it just came to me yesterday so have to get used to it!
Agree Carla is better- thanks

Prefer Alexandra to Karla but my favourite is Francesca. Also like verity, Madeline, felicity and Elsie.

I think Carla Maria flows better than Alexandra Maria, though tbh I don't like it when first and middle names have the same ending.

Of all your names I think Elsie Maria sounds best .

Not keen at all on Karla, especially with a K. Love Alexandra and with Maria it sounds beautiful and classic.

Alexandra Maria nn Alex - lovely.
Karla Maria nn Karlie - like Karla but not Karlie
Madeleine - love it
Wren - not keen but it's ok
Elsie - very cute, like it
Verity - really like it. Classic and unusual
Francesca - love it. Could be Frankie or Kessa if you don't like frilly?
Tess - it's ok
Felicity - love it but I'd say it's the definition of a frilly name!

Alexandra best, then Carla.

Out of your other choices, I like (with mn Maria) Francesca best.

I'm a carly, have spent my whole life being called Carla. So maybe not the best nickname as people get them confused at the best of times.

Love Alexandra Marie and
Wren Maria

Alexandra is beautiful, classic and underused. Love it.

I like all of them apart from Karla. Really don't like that name.

Wasn't Karla the (male) Russian spymaster in Tinker Tailor? Much prefer Alexandra.

I like Alexandra but it would annoy me if everybody shortened it to Alex, which is a bit meh.

I love Felicity atm but am biased because DD has recently 're-christened' all her dollies as Felicity due to the Felicity Wishes books she is currently reading Smile

Karla/ Carla Maria make me want to sing it to the tune of Ave Maria. My DSIS wanted Ava Maria and I said the same to her.

I like Alexandra.

I love Francesca, Wren, Tess and Elsie.

Alexandra, definitely. But I'm biased, as I have an Alexandria nn Alex Grin I obviously think Alex is quite a cool name for a little girl, but plenty of choice when they get older.

Alexandra Maria nn Alex – Really like this
Karla Maria nn Karlie – Not keen
Madeleine – Not keen
Wren – Really not keen
Elsie – Not keen. How about Elsa? Less frilly IMO
Verity - Love
Francesca – Love this.
Tess – Don’t like this
Felicity – Love Felicity, nn Fliss

Other names I like that aren’t on your list but may fit your criteria:

Meredith
Camilla
Eloise
Scarlett
Raynah

Alexandra, Madeleine and Francesca are lovely. Elsie is 'old lady'. Wren is a bit odd. Tess sounds lovely, but should be short for Theresa or Tessa.

Love Carla!
And you hardly hear of any baby Carla's these days.

Alexandra Maria is lovely. Much better than Karla/Karlie.

I'm not a fan of names that can be shortened like Alex. Karla is unusual and classy in my opinion! There will be a lot of boy Alex's in any Alexandra's class.

Madeleine-sweet
Wren-NO, sorry
Elsie -very cute but becoming very popular
Verity-no
Francesca-classy
Tess - lovely (short for Teresa?)
Felicity- sounds high maintenance

Do you know for sure you're having a girl?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/02/2014 20:24

Don't like Alexandra or Karla, sorry.

Madeleine nice
Like Wren as a mn
Verity lovely
Like Tess
Like Felicity
Don't like Elsie

Hi all- thank you so much for all the replies! Really interesting to hear what people think. Don't know for sure it's a girl (we're keeping it a surprise). But when ds was born I'd known all along what he'd be called and thankfully he was a boy as I was a bit meh about my list of girl names. I've a feeling this ones a girl so want to be more prepared!!

Problem is... I still adore my ds1's name- would love to adore my little girls name but finding it hard to find that special name. Why are girls names so hard for me?!
