Baby names

Induction tomorrow - final call for advice

VERY excited that finally the day has come Grin

I'm 99% decided on Hugo Oliver S... (Surname begins with S and is 2 syllables).

But neither Hugo nor Oliver have any family links. Both of my grandads are called David, so my dad, brother and male cousins all have David as a middle name; unfortunately I don't like it Sad and it just doesn't "go".

So, what do you think about
Hugo Oliver Sidney S..?

Is it too much with the two middle names? Sidney is my maternal grandad's middle name, and the baby will have my surname so that is a connection with my dad's side of the family.

What do you think?
Thanks for your help everyone, this is it! Shock

Firstly, good luck tomorrow!

Hugo Oliver Sidney is a lovely set of names but I think it would be a little sad to break such a strong family tradition. I'm biased as David was my dad's name but it's not so horrendous that it would clash with Hugo or Oliver. It's an old and respectable name and has clear significance for your family... (I write as someone whose DH is trying to wangle 'Brian' into any future son's middle name, to honour his grand-dad..)

Thanks Dovahkiin!
After reading your post I've been thinking about it (while enjoying my last relaxed lunch for a while!) Wink and maybe Hugo Oliver David S.. Is quite nice! And I think you're right about the tradition.
I have one cousin who doesn't have David and everyone seems to mention it every time we have a name conversation.

If the baby hates it when he grows up (not that he would) he can just use Oliver, or neither!

So much pressure.... Grin

Hugo Oliver David.... lovely! And nice to keep the family tradition.

We have a Hugo John because literally EVERY man in both mine and DH's family has a first or middle name of John, so it pleased everyone, even if it's a bit dull!

Hope it went / is going well!

I like the tradition of having family names. DS has the same middle name as my father and brother. Doesn't necessarily 'go' but the only times we hear the names run together are in church for his baptism etc.
