Is Dacey a real word? Do you mean Darcey?

Not keen on any really, if I had to choose one... Mila I suppose, is it short for something? Camilla? Miley?

Penelope is just a no. And Penny and Pip are really wet as diminutives .

Sorry.

Penelope is fine. I like Darcy, if that's what you meant.

Dislike Mila.

I like Penelope but dislike the others

My god Uri you are blunt. If I didn't already know your honest posting style I'd be a pregnant- what-am-I-going-to-call-my-baby blubbering crying mess. Hormones!!

No, I mean Dacey. Its Irish for 'from the south'. Not that that has any relation to why I've chosen it.

Mila is pronouced Mee-la. Like Mila Kunis/Milla Jovovitch. It is a diminuitive of several Eastern European names such Milena/Milana.

Agree with Penny being 'wet'. Not a fan, I love Penelope too much though and have accepted that she herself or friend and family will probably shorten it to Penny.

I really like Mila - it's lovely.

Dacey - I think people will always think it's Darcey misspelt/mispronounced.

Penelope is one of those names I don't get. I know it's quite well liked on MN, but I just can't warm to it or Penny or Nell or any shortening of it.

Mila is the best on your list

Dacey looks like Darcy gone wrong

Mila is nice. Much prefer Camille though.

I don't get Penelope either, but also don't like Verity, Felicity or Veronica, and to me they're of the same flavour.

Dacey feels made up, sorry.

To be honest I think there are many more names out there that sound made up than Dacey. But it is unique and not at all popular. Something that really appeals to DP and I.

Mila is on the up, which I don't mind, as was ours sons when we named him.

I like Penelope/Penny best. As others have said Dacey will get confused for Darcey. Mila is a bit trendy/celeby for me and it blends in with all the Mia/Maya/Miley etc.

Thank you for your replies. Very helpful and nice to gauge opinion. Its really a toss up between Mila and Penelope. Think we may just have to see how we feel when we see her.

Penelope would be good as middle name. Mila Penelope!

Penelope is beautiful and Nell is a great nick name.

Mila is fine, although I prefer Camilla or Camille.

Dacey is terrible.

Mila is lovely.

Penelope I know is becoming very popular (because of Penelope Cruz maybe?) but I always thought of it as what used to be known as 'jolly hockysticks' like Daphne, etc. And if I wanted my daughter to be known as 'Nell' then I would give the name Eleanor or Helen/Helena instead.

Never come across Dacey before. It is OK, but like others say, she might get people mistaking her name for 'Darcy' all the time.
