DH and I have very different styles of names we like.

DH is very traditional and likes names of our generation.
I like strong sounding names - typically one syllable (though this is not a requirement).

His current list includes:
George
Jamie
Daniel
Thomas
Edward
Jensen
Jack
Harry
Christopher

My favourites include:
Grey
Reid
Harris
Eric
Rory
all of which have been rejected by DH! Smile I would prefer a name outside top 20 of possible.

Our current (uninspiring) joint shortlist includes (and yes I know lots of these are popular or are likely to be):
Alex
George
Edward
Jack

Any ideas of classic names, that sound strong, but aren't super popular?

Thanks!

If he likes Harry and you like Harris, what about Harrison? Kind of a combination/can be shortened to either?

Thanks. I like Harrison and Nicholas. Unfortunately DH has vetoed - Harrison Ford and sounds like Christmas??!

Along the right lines though. Thanks

Edward isn't in the top 20. It is my fave but I might be biased as I have one, known as Eddie. We have never come across another Edward at school or nursery so I don't think it is that common.

I like Edward.

How about Bram? Bramwell? Or as nn for Abraham?

thanks everyone.

I like Eddie and so Edward fits dh and my likes! But I was a hit worried about Twilight connections. Should I ignore this or is it valid?

I'll look at that link how. Thanks

that list is amazing! nearly my whole list on on there! but DH vetod all of those! I'll have to try and present this list in a less direct way and see if he's forgotten he dislikes some of my favourites! :-)

Edward is a good name, nn could also be Ted (very cute). Or William nn Billy? Just thinking classic name with more unusual nickname could be the way to go here?

I also like Elliot and Charlie.

I wouldn't worry about Twilight connections.

Both DS and DHs names are on that list.
I love Eric, it was vetoed by DH.
I know of a little Edward known as Ted, I think that is a lovely name too.
