What do you think for a boy? Any middle name suggestions?

thedreamersmother Fri 06-Sep-13 16:35:30

I quite like it, although it's not my usual style. Is it about to become popular for girls though (am thinking Glee/ Scandal).

thedreamersmother Fri 06-Sep-13 16:36:05

Sorry, there should have been a ? at the end there.

cantthinkofagoodone Fri 06-Sep-13 18:16:17

It sounds more masculine to me but I've never seen those programmes

LauraChant Fri 06-Sep-13 18:19:15

I always think of it as a girl's name because of the sister in Daria.

Ihatepeas Fri 06-Sep-13 18:40:45

I always thought it was a girls name but that's probably because I know a little girl called Quinn.
I like it but can't imagine it on a boy..

Onesleeptillwembley Fri 06-Sep-13 19:34:22

It's a surname.

SoulTrain Fri 06-Sep-13 19:37:49

Love it!! For either but especially a girl!

Leeds2 Fri 06-Sep-13 19:39:35

I don't dislike it, but it would bother me that it wouldn't be obvious, on reading the name, whether it was a boy or a girl. I have such a name, and it is quite irritating!

A bit too much like Quim. No?

LEMisdisappointed Fri 06-Sep-13 19:47:22

my friend has a DS called quin, I nearly died the other day when another friend called him "quim" She often mispronounces things and when i pulled her on it she didnt know what a quim is - the word quim makes me shudder but the name quin has grown on me. I did associate it with quinten crisp, but now i associate it with tarentino which may or may not be a good thing!

MrsMongoose Fri 06-Sep-13 19:52:36

I know both genders, and like it on both!

Bowlersarm Fri 06-Sep-13 19:57:09

Traditionally short for quentin?

Unsure tbh. Sounds feminine to me.

PenguinBear Fri 06-Sep-13 19:58:16

Only heard it on a girl!

TwllBach Fri 06-Sep-13 20:05:09

It's been a girls name to me for a while now because of the sister in One Tree Hill but I think it's nice for a boy too grin

2kidsintow Fri 06-Sep-13 20:32:14

I'd toyed with it when expecting DC2.

DD1 had asked if her sister could be called a particular name she liked. We both liked it and agreed it would be a good choice.

I asked what she'd want a brother to be called. She thought and replied "Quincy" (had been watching it with her Dad on lunchtime telly for a while).

I wouldn't want Quincy as a name, but was quite drawn to the thought that Quin is to do with 5 (triplets, quadruplets, quintuplets) and it was my 5th pregnancy - even though I'd only successfully had DD1 at that point.

In the end, I had another DD and DD1 got her way. smile

bananamummy Fri 06-Sep-13 23:12:54

Like Quinn but like Quentin even more.

bananamummy Fri 06-Sep-13 23:17:23

For middle names how about
Quentin Alexander
Quentin James
Quinn Frederick
Quinn Theodore

Ham69 Fri 06-Sep-13 23:30:46

Quim. Just. No.

valiumredhead Fri 06-Sep-13 23:35:00

Too much like quim, no way.

KittenCaboodle Fri 06-Sep-13 23:42:07

No idea what quim was until I googled.

It makes me think this hmm

Tigerbomb Sat 07-Sep-13 00:17:27

Quinn is the name of Sookie's Were Tiger boyfriend in the books that Make up the True Blood series

If you like it go for it

Rhubarbgarden Sat 07-Sep-13 08:25:22

sashh Mon 09-Sep-13 16:26:06
