What do the MN name jury think of these combos?

Hi

33 weeks...I have posted before about 5 yr old DS not liking our favourite name - Martha. The general thought from MN was 'don't let him dictate'. However, I still feel uncomfortable about choosing a first name he is so against. He rarely objects to anything/has strong opinions, so we feel we should listen to him etc. And at 5 he is very lucid, I wouldn't feel the same of a 3 year olds view etc.

So the potential combos for DD are:

  1. Heidi Bea Martha
  2. Hannah Bea Martha
  3. Martha Bea Hannah (if we ignore DS's view!)

    Surname begins with a P, 2 syllables.

    What do you think?

Order of preference for me would be
3) Martha ...
2) Hannah...

  1. Heidi...

To be completely honest I think Bea, as opposed to Beatrice, is a bit odd as a middle name as it sounds like 'Martha be Hannah' - like an instruction to become someone else! Do you not like Beatrice?

I much prefer Martha to Hannah or Heidi
... but Hannah Bea Martha second choice if you're set on one of those combos.

Do you need three names? And any reason for Bea rather than Beatrice / Beatrix?

I love Hannah, Martha & Bea but separately. Personally I'd have Hannah or Martha with Beatrice (but then I have a Beatrice / Bea and I love it!) I went to school with a Heidi and it seems a bit 70s to me.

Sorry, not helpful! My shortlist was Megan or Harriet - when DD was born she was neither of those and within minutes Beatrice came to mind and that's what 'fitted' her. :)

All lovely names but I agree bea dosent flow well on its own as a middle name.

I really dislike Heidi, sorry. Hannah is ok but not a name I would choose personally. My favourite is Martha, but I agree with others that I would use Beatrice as middle name.

Tbh I agree on the Bea/Beatrice question too.

I love Heidi, Martha's ok but I much prefer Marnie or Marcia, Hannah is too 80's, I like Anna though.

Not keen at all on Bea as a middle name, just doesn't flow right.

Heidi was on my list but dh vetoed. Random useless suggestion but I think Georgie is a beautiful name Thanks

Agree with Minty82.

How about swapping the middle names so you have Bea at the end?

Heidi Martha Bea
Hannah Martha Bea
Martha Hannah Bea

I would go for Heidi Beatrice.

OP sorry, just to clarify, have you tried out any other names on DS, is it the name Martha or the thought of having a baby sister?

I like all those names, Heidi is much less common than the others. As long as your surname doesn't start with B (which it doesn't) and DD doesn't later change her name to one beginning with a B, Bea as a middle name as opposed to the lovely Beatrice or elegant Beatrix would be up to you.

Thanks for all the feedback. Interestingly I did think Bea in the middle looked a bit strange when typed.

I like Bea as DS has a short name so was in some way trying to "match" or connect to that, but I appreciate what you are all saying. I do like it more at the end thermalsinapril , but not opposed to Beatrice. And actually 3 longer names looks better I think.

DS' issue is Martha. He would choose Gracie, but is up for both Hannah & Heidi. Think the GPs would prefer Hannah & Heidi too.

The moral of the story is obviously not to share your names choices in RL with anyone before the baby arrives!!!

Will think on.

Thanks for all your input, it is much appreciated.

My vote goes to Heidi :) agree with the others though,Bea in the middle just doesn't look right,Beatrice/Beatrix would be better or keeping Bea but putting it at the end.
