I like Scarlett best. Esme is quite sweet. Not keen on Ella Rose.

I like Scarlett out of your shortlist :) xx

Depends if you mind popularity or not. Ella Rose is so SO popular at the moment. Esme least common of your choices, and I like Scarlett best!

Popularity doesn't bother me at all. Dd1 has a really popular name but I still love it.

Love Esme, then Scarlett. Less fond of Ella and Rose seems to be a catch all mn these days.

FWIW DS2 is in the top five so not a dig!!

Didn't take it as a dig :) I just think names are popular for a reason. I have loved Dds name for years and wasn't put off by it becoming a popular name.

Dh loves Ella Rose but it's not my first choice although I do think it's really pretty.

Scarlett has always been a name iv loved.

Esme is a new love but I really do LOVE it.

Perhaps combine 2 of the names? A first name and middle name? Unless u already have a mn picked out of course but a lot of people like to have quite a few mns nowadays so u could always have all 3/4 if u really wanted and can't agree on one in particular! My next question is of course do u intend on having another baby after this one? If u do then the name u don't use could always be top choice for the next baby if u have another girl :D xx

Which names combined do you think would work best?
This is our last planned dc so no intention of having any more (unless I change my mind :))

Also any middle names to go with Esme?

DD is Ella Rose! So I think it's a beautiful name Smile. We had no idea either was so popular when we named her (she's 3) and don't care now - it suits her down to the ground.

I like Scarlett but not so keen on Esme, especially when people insist on pronouncing it the French way (Esmay rather than Esmee).

I think Scarlett Rose, Scarlett Esme or Esme Rose sound lovely. Just my opinion mind,I'm personally not keen on the name Ella as I know quite a few but I also don't think either Scarlett or Esme would make good middle names with Ella Rose, they just don't seem to sound right to me....xx

Esme Rose is pretty and so is Scarlett Rose..
I really can't decide. I might see if Dh will consider the names lol

I think if you wanted Esme for a first name but didn't want to combine it with ur other name choices then a name ending in an A or ER or A/ER sound would have a nice ring, such as Esme Tahlullah (spell as you wish) or Esme Jennifer for example :) xx

Ooo how about Scarlett Esme Rose?? Think I'm getting carried away now lol!xx

to me Scarlett Rose is almost the same name said twice - does that make sense? Red Red. Like James John or Daisy Margaret.

Does it work?

I have an Esme Florence.

ditsydoll · 13/04/2013 16:24

Does Esme have to have the accent? As in Esmé?
Esme Florence is lovely :)

I think Esme Rose 3-syllable-surname sounds good :) xx

Thank you Ditsy. The accent depends on whether you want it pronounced 'Esmee' or 'Esmay'. My DD is pronounced 'Esmee' so doesn't have one. She still gets called 'Esmay' a lot, but I don't mind!

Esme Florence and Esme Tallulah are lovely. I like Ella too but not keen on Rose as a middle name, it always conjures images of fortune tellers for me.

All lovely names - Rose is a lovely middle name for all of them.
