Is George way too popular?

I haven't come across any little George's for a while. But it's high up on the national statistics (12 I think) Just wondering how popular it was everywhere else

We have three in the reception class in my school and I know two born very recently - a real shame as I love the name for this DS but I don't want him to be one of many at school (as I was when I was younger).

I know a fair amount (including DH) - lots of Greek/Cypriot ones due to family and just a few English ones. (S. London)

I have a George who is 2.5 and I have not heard of another one. However, I live in Australia and here it is not even in the top 50. I think it is more popular in the UK.

I adore it though and we are really happy we chose it for him. It suits him to a tee, it's easy to spell. I don't think it is everyone's cup of tea though.

I love the name George and my husband is desperate for this little one to be called George, but I've had to veto it on account of our surname. Put the two together and everyone laughs.

I have a 3 year old George and he's the only one in his school (they start full time at 3 in Wales so it's a big school not a nursery with over 250 children. Everyone loves it and he's a typical 'naughty George'

we have two in our small music group of about 9 (4 boys) - so i would say fairly popular right now. but then names are usually popular for a reason!

What's the worst that could happen?

My DS (18 months) is George. I knew it was popular but my DH was a Tom and loved having an unremarkable name so we didn't mind. Am expecting again and will be more adventurous if a girl but probably similarly common if its a boy.
