Lovely, or OTT? I love, but DH wants Emma and Thomas.

I think the striking problem here is your and your DH'a wildly differing tastes in baby names!

FWIW, I like Autumn but not Phoenix. Phoenix is forever associated with Mel B for me, which is not good.

Emma and Thomas are nice, but perhaps a little plain - I think this is what you might feel about those names?

Maybe figure out what meanings you'd like the names to have and take it from there?

Oh OK, which out of Autumn and Phoenix is the boy? I have known child one of each name and both were girls.

I agree you and DH ned to reconcile your somewhat differing tastes.

HouseOfBears Tue 05-Feb-13 21:28:55

I like them! Think they go well together (I'm assuming Autumn is girl and Phoenix is boy!). But I agree you and your partner are clearly miles apart, so much so that you can't have one each, as Emma and Phoenix or Autumn and Thomas just don't seem right! Which go best with your surname?

I think you might have to meet in the middle with how "out there" the names are, and probably end up with neither of your first choice!

thegreylady Tue 05-Feb-13 21:34:30

Autumn is ok but I don't really like Phoenix at all.
I quite like Emma and Thomas though.

Porkster Tue 05-Feb-13 21:37:47

I think they're both horrid, sorry.

Emma & Thomas are a bit meh.

<Not helping.>

heidihole Tue 05-Feb-13 21:37:59

I can't tell the gender if the children from those names!

mumofthemonsters808 Tue 05-Feb-13 21:47:14

Oh I really like these names, they also go well together.I'm a lover of modern, funky names so Emma and Thomas do not float my boat.

MyThumbsHaveGoneWeird Tue 05-Feb-13 21:51:13

You and DH need to meet in the middle somewhere! grin
Iris and Aubrey?

Leeds2 Tue 05-Feb-13 22:06:20

I prefer Emma and Thomas. Maybe Autumn. Not Phoenix.

PickledInAPearTree Tue 05-Feb-13 22:08:07

I would lean towards your DH taste a bit more. Is there a middle ground for you?

Phoenix I don't like - its too "celebrity" for me.

forgetmenots Tue 05-Feb-13 22:29:06

Like Autumn and Thomas. Don't like Emma and Phoenix.

BehindLockNumberNine Tue 05-Feb-13 22:32:59

Love Autumn, not Phoenix.

Like Emma and Thomas but then I am not adventurous with names.

NotInMyDay Tue 05-Feb-13 22:34:51

What about Orla and Felix?

Somewhere in the middle between your taste and his.

ILikeSquirrels Tue 05-Feb-13 22:38:26

Thanks all! Yes, Autumn for Dd and Phoenix for DS. We are getting closer. I've been a bit put off Phoenix after all the celebby comments. We have nearly agreed on Autumn Kate and Tate Spencer. smile?

Bluestocking Tue 05-Feb-13 22:42:11

Sorry, Autumn and Phoenix are awful separately, and together are just unspeakable. Emma and Thomas are lovely names.

mrstowers Tue 05-Feb-13 22:46:09

Oh no Tate is worse than Phoenix!

BehindLockNumberNine Tue 05-Feb-13 23:07:01

Kate and Tate?? (because that may be what they become....?

Not keen on Tate at all.

Love Rafe though, unusual but not too odd?

BehindLockNumberNine Tue 05-Feb-13 23:07:18

Orla and Rafe?

NowPlayingZone Tue 05-Feb-13 23:08:26

Autumn is lovely. Would also sound nice wit Emma as mn.

Think Spencer Is better as a first name, but SpencerTate sounds like a law firm or accountants or something. Spencer Thomas would be better. Glad you binned Pheonix.

PickledInAPearTree Tue 05-Feb-13 23:09:48

Like playings suggestions!

BehindLockNumberNine Tue 05-Feb-13 23:22:18

Loving Spencer Thomas. Right, that is the boy sorted.
Now just the girl to name...

Wheresmycaffeinedrip Tue 05-Feb-13 23:26:55

Autum is lovely.

ceeveebee Tue 05-Feb-13 23:30:36

Why not autumn and Thomas?

ceeveebee Tue 05-Feb-13 23:31:12

Oh actually could be confusing as autumn might sound like 'oi Tom!'
