Love it. Goes great with Ronan.

And reminds me of Declan O'Hara.

Lovely name.

We know a Declan, when my DS was a toddler he couldn't say it, so used to call him "Duckling".

Love it! my DH vetoed it though so we are not using it :(

goralka · 28/11/2012 19:01

it goes very well with Ronan

Declan Murray/Curry? The finance journalist on 5-Live wins my respect. So it must be a good name.

goralka · 28/11/2012 19:08

although the only Declan I know found it a bit irritating being called 'Docklands'

Gimblinginthewabe · 28/11/2012 19:23

Goralka, do you live in London?

Who is Declan O'Hara?

When Ronan was born I found out who Ronan O'Gara is!

I don't think kids round here would have heard of the docklands :-)

well anyway it's a great name, very strong.

I hate it sorry, all I can think of is Ant n Dec Sad, and I don't think it goes particularly well with Ronan either. Ronan is tall, dignified, classic, and Declan is none of those to me. How about:
Alexander
Gabriel
Dominic
Lucas
Benedict

Love it

I agree with sparkle.

I think it is a very '80s name and a bit cheesy.

It's a nice name but the inevitable nickname 'Decky' puts me off. Every Declan I know gets called Decky (and it's a very popular name in these parts - NI)

galwaygirl · 30/11/2012 19:37

Please no - it's the only name I can't stand for boys. I know loads of Declans and they're all dicks and it just sounds horrible!

Irish name. Nice.

Love the name.
I know one whose nn is Dex. His parents liked the name 'Dax' originally but used Declan to give more flexibility. He was called Ducklling when he was little sometimes too!

It's a bit dated here in Ireland. You wouldn't find too many Declans under the age of about 35.

I was going to be Declan if I was a boy.
