Anne for a girl

I already have two DS's called Archie and Harry, I am expecting a third and if it is a boy I really like Bertie (it doesnt bother me about Bertie the bus!) I am struggling to find a name for a girl that is not everywhere and is not to 'posh'. At risk of upsetting my MIL, I am starting to really love the name Anne (after my Mum) I have never heard it yet for a little girl and it would actually mean something. My Mum would be thrilled of course! Just thinking now of Annes I like - Anne of Green Gables, Anne Hathaway, what does anyone else think?

I quite like it. It is a bit short for me, I like longer names I think but Anne is a nice name

Lovely idea and has a meaning which i think makes it less of an issue if you all of a sudden you hear of lots of little ones with the same name , my lo school does not have any Anne's yet :)

I love it...also my mums name! Could you use MIL name as a middle name?

I love it. DH veoted it for DD, but I used it as her middle name. Gratifyingly people often say that she looks an Ann or Annie!

Love it, it's one of the DDs middle names. We also considered Anna.

It's a bit bland to me but maybe that's because I know several mums at the school gate with that name. I love Annie though.

Great reactions, it's funny I just like Anne and not so much the other interpretations, I think you summed it up Rhubarb - Classy, Elegant and Strong, Love it!

I love it but we decided against having siblings with the same initial. I don't know if that would bother you for post, labelling etc.

It's my name - It's carried me through life thus far perfectly happily - It means Grace I think.

I like it! It's my mum's name though so I am a bit bias.

It's lovely and makes a nice change from the longer girls names that are currently fashionable.
