Opinions on middle name for jack please!!

Dh is set on jack, family name, he's very traditional and has only about 3 strong opinions a year so trying to get behind this one but I want a funkier middle name. With the nights spent trawling the Internet for inspiration I've lost faith in whether I think names roll!

I like jack Samuel, will put that in the mix thank you. Our surname ends in n so trying to avoid middle names that do!

Why don't you use Jack as a middle name - there are so, so many little Jacks out there that he will most likely need an initial or middle name to identify himself.

Glad I'm not alone in this boat wee nugget!! I know there will be hundreds of jacks but it's what I've got to work with, I haven't got the heart to put up a fight, but do want to make my make my mark with his middle name as i do think we'll be using it a lot!!

I love dexter! I'd thought of that as a first name, I'm definitely naming our second!!!

If you're not happy with Jack, I'd suggest you find a name you both love! Jack has been THE most popular name for several years until 2010, I think, so there will be lots and lots of the out there already. But if you're set on it, I suggest Jack Mackenzie as Finley is also very common.

Well I know hardly any.

People get too hung up on it, if it's a special name to you of course it dosent matter if it's popular.

I know of one jack Lloyd which I thought was nice.

I have a Jack Michael. Both family names .

DS is the only Jack in his year (Y10) at secondary school. I don't much like Mackenzie but do like Finlay - the fact that it's popular wouldn't worry me so long as I liked it!

You so rarely use your middle name that it almost doesn't matter how well the names 'flow', just choose a name you love.

But I agree that Jack is very widely used, I think it was nr 1 for several years, but if you're happy with that, then go ahead and use Jack.

I have a Jack, and at the time I named him, I had never met anyone called Jack. We are in Scotland, so maybe no quite so common up here. Since he was born, we have met one or two little Jacks, but not hundreds. I think it is a lovely name, and if it is important to your DH, then why not?

My 12-year old is Jack Christopher.

For what it's worth, I got so many comments about how popular it was at the time, and how I'd be condemning him to a life of being one of "dozens" with the name when he got to school, and that didn't turn out to be the case.

Yes well over 9,000 boys (in England and Wales) were named Jack the year I used it, but lets face it, they would have been spread out all the two countries. It isn't as though 9,000 odd were going to all be in my corner of the South East!

Jack is now at a school with 820 pupils and he is one of only five Jacks, and the only one in his year.

And to be honest, I wouldn't care if there were dozens of them there, because he's the only one that is MY Jack.
