Both me and OH like the name but we are not sure on spelling and how it would be pronounced..

Either 'Loo - shun' or 'Loo - c - ann'

If that makes sense?!

Lucien

Pronounced Loo-see-un.

Loo-shun sounds like a lazy pronounciation, as if you couldn't be bothered to say 3 syllables!

Lucian. But pronounced same as YouMayLogOut. I've never heard it pronounced any other way. To me it's a bit like calling someone Penny-Lope, when it should be pronounced Pen - el -oh - p.

Lucien Loo-C-N. That was on my shortlist.

How can you like a name if you don't know how to pronounce it?
I think Lucien is the correct spelling.

I know one who pronounces it Loo-shan, he is American.

Lucian seems to be the German (and British?) spelling whilst Lucien is French, just like Sebastian/Sebastien.

Yes we want it to be pronounced Loo - c - un but i wasn't sure on the spelling for it to be pronounced this way.

I prefer the Lucian spelling too...

Love Lucian, pronounced Loo-see-un. It is my number 1 name for this baby who is currently overdue and making me fed up

My assumption would be that Lucian is pronounced Loo-shun and Lucien pronounced Loo-c-un.

In France Lucian is pronounced Loo-see-on and Lucien is pronounced Loo-see-un (roughly). There are quite a few names where you can have either. DH has always picked -en over -an for our two.
