Hi,

It's my due date today and we are trying to choose between Sadie and Lila as names for our baby girl. Any thoughts? Middle name suggestions also welcomed please!

Those are both really nice, and kind of give off the same impression too. It depends what your surname is. You can't go wrong!

Sadie. It's cooler!

Sadie. It's been known but under-used for years. Lila is nice but more fashionable (thanks to Kate Moss?) so may date a bit.

Sadie! I absolutely adore this name! It's both classy and sassy!

I know Sadie Rose. Think it's a lovely name

Sadie. Lovely!

Sorry, I loathe Sadie. It sounds seedy and a bit tacky to me Sad

Both really lovely names. Sadie is perhaps the slightly less used of the two? Not looked it up, just my impression. It's quite ageless whereas Lila is very now.

Sadie sounds slightly more like she drinks pints than Lila but that's not a bad thing in my book!

Sadie by a mile.

Less dateable; more timeless. Lila's a bit 80s.

Oh, see I think Lily is very now. But Lila is very American, Saved By The Bell, Sweey Valley High, cheesy 80s-tastic.

Not seen them (though I first heard the name in a 1940s film so that's what date it is to me if anything). I was thinking Kate Moss's daughter, and there have definitely been threads about Lila here before, though it's true often as part of a whole Lily/Layla/Lyra type discussion.

Sadie, definitely. Lovely name.

I have always liked this song by Morphine called 'Lila':

Sorry, called The Night, but about someone called Lila!

Alternatively, the Beatles Sexy Sadie!

Both lovely names. But that film Lila 4 Ever does colour my impression of Lila - so tragic and so awful what happens to her (good film though).

It was Lilja/Lilya 4 Ever. Which yes, would put me off "Lilya", but it sounds different enough to Lila I think.

An ex boss of mine is called Sadie. She's one of the nicest people I've ever worked for.

Thanks for your thoughts ladies. I'm thinking I'm not too sure about Lila, agree it's maybe a bit 80's. What do you think of Lottie? Or do you have any other suggestions for similar-ish names?

Thanks!
