Is Henry very popular? Too popular?

I have always loved the name Henry but I fear it may now be too popular. It is to go with DS1 who is George. My other current favourite is Albert which I suspect is less popular than Henry. Also possibly Elliot?

Henry is a lovely classic name, popular for good reason :) It's definitely not in the "faddy" category. Albert is classic too but has become popular rather more suddenly in recent times. I like Elliot as well. You can't go wrong! :)

I love the name Henry. If we ever have a DC3 and it's a boy we will call him Henry. We have a George too.

I've only met a few baby Henrys recently. Popular but not crazy popular and definitely not faddy.

Love George and Henry together.

I don't know any children called Henry, just one who has it as a middle name. I think it's a lovely name.

Henry is massively popular near me.

Henry, Harry- there are countless of both at my DDs nursery.

Ooh I posted about this last week - I also have a George and love Henry for DS2!

I agree that although it is about no. 35 in the top 100, it is not a faddy name - it is always quite popular because it is classic (like George). Whereas I think Albert is currently a bit of a faddy name and will date quite quickly.

Elliot is nice - but to go with George? As in George Eliot? Not sure.

Henry and Harry are VERY popular around here. There are 3 Harry's in ds's class of which two share the same surname!

I think Elliot is a lovely name, classic but not as overused as Harry/Henry.

Albert is nice but I really don't like Albie (or Archie,Alfie etc).

Quite alot of Henry/Harrys near us - more than George.

I really like Elliot and agree that Elliot and George go really well together.

Very very popular here. Too popular for me. There are so many nice names I wouldn't want DS to be Henry number 6 in his class

Yes, very common round here - I can think of five Henry/Harrys under age 7. I would personally choose something less overused. Have a look at the ONS list with ALL boys names given last year, there are some lovely underused classics on there.

Henry is lovely. And much nicer than Elliot and Albert,which are awful imho.

Yes, quite popular here. I think George is more timeless and less widely used. I think Elliot is lovely (although I'm less keen on Albert/Albie/Bertie).

You have exactly the same taste in boys name as me. I absolutely love Elliot but DH vetoed it. Albert was also a contender but I recently had a rabbit called Albert and also not too keen on Albie or Bertie.
So think we are going to name DC2 Henry if the baby I'm cooking turns out to be a boy. It isn't massively popular where I am. Harry is more popular and I know quite a few but I always think of Henry as being a completely different name. It's classic so won't be classed as a faddy name.

classic choice, I really like Elliot though. I think Elliot and George go well together, but then again so do George and Henry! Very unhelpful!

DS (18 months) is Henry, and he's the only one I know of. There are lots of Harrys round here though. I think it's increased in popularity over the last year though, according to the figures.

I also love the names George and James if we had another boy.

I have a Henry whose 8 - only 1 other in his school. Harry more popular I think.

Henry is my number 1 choice for boys name it's such a strong classic name. Prefer Arthur to Albert though

Henry and George are both lovely, classic names.

Henry not hugely popular here (unlike Harry, which is a totally different kettle of fish). I only know 1 (9 years old). One of mine has it as a middle name, and George is top of my list for dc3!

Henry has become very popular this year. My DS is 17 weeks and is called Henry after his great grandfather & grandad. A friend of mine has called her new son Henry & a lady I met the other day has called her baby Henry after the character in Time Traveller's Wife. I've since heard of friends of friends calling their babies Henry too... Think it will be on the top 10 list soon.
