Beatrice with the NN Triss (or Trissie)?

Thoughts please. If you have a Beatrice does it inevitably get shortened to Bea?

I've known only one, and she was nicknamed Bay or Baya, as one of her parents was French so Beatrice was pronounced more bay-a-treece. If you stuck to calling her Triss, I'm guessing most family and friends would pick it up. I have a Gabriel and no one calls him Gabe except some strangers, because we called him Little G and then just G. That's what everyone else uses.

You can't really choose the nickname they'll generally be called, though obviously you can choose what you, the parents, call her! I would imagine a Beatrice would end up being called Bea by her peers, so would advise against choosing Beatrice if you don't like Bea.

I think it would stick if she liked it, and when she introduces herself when older that will stick. My own immediate abbreviation of Beatrice would be Triss or Trix anyway not Bea. A few mates will probably always call her B though.

It's your child so you can pick which nickname you like! However I think Bea is so so so much nicer than Triss!

Of course you can pick her nick name. I chose my son's nick name - Oz (short for Oscar). Triss is great. I like Bea too, but Triss is more unusual. People might still call her Bea - would you mind?

I have a Beatrice :) She is Bea for a nn. AFAIK Trixie is the nn for Beatrix, not Beatrice. Not that it matters really!

dd's current favourite book (Divergent) has a Beatrice nn Tris. To me it's a teenage type nn, I can't imagine calling a small child Tris. I'm afraid I think that Trissie sounds terrible.

My cousin is a Beatrice sometimes known as Bea.
