Baby names

new dc's name

definatlylosingmysanity · 01/09/2012 22:25

i'm currently 12 weeks pregnant with dc5 and trying to think of possible names as i normally have one picked before the 20 week scan. i always find out as if this is dd2 i wont really have to buy clothes as dsis will pass on her baby clothes but if its a boy its a case of starting again as i gave all ds3 clothes away at Christmas, plus i want the other dc's to start using the name mainly due to a child with speech probs the earlier we practice the more confident he'll be (past issues with dd's name Sad ) .

anyway tried discussing this with dp and so far he's just made a joke of it all its his first dc and i don't think he understand were i'm coming from. i have told him its best we at least kind of agree and gave him a suggestion of a possible boys and girls name but did say the girls name i was either to be a first or middle name but as it is after a family member who i was close to who died last year i definitely want that used somewhere.

dp has said he'll think about it was suggested i came up with more i think thats a slight hint hes not keen on the ones ive already suggested which are for a dd frankie and a ds brent or xander so i was wondering if anyone could help with possible suggestions please Smile
thanks in advance

glad you liked them - you could also have Francesca, which i think is lovely, and have Frankie as a nickname.

which do you prefer out of Blake and Eli?

I love Frankie for a girl! Francesca is another alternative.

For a boy, how about:
Elliot
Finlay
Bailey
Riley

My friend has a Frankie, not shortened anything, just Frankie and it suits her very well :)
Not keen on Brent at all though sorry.

I'd try to talk dh round and go for Frankie, just Frankie - it's gorgeous!

For a boy how about Finn, Flynn, Max, Jake, Tom, Zac, Jay?

I think I am with your DH - you are not even 20 weeks and you want to name the baby already? Is that right?

I think he just wants to wait and meet the baby first before naming them. I might be wrong but I suspect this might be the reason for his hesitation.

I personally could never name a baby prior to the birth!?

I love Xander though not so keen on Brent. I think Frankie is nice but only as a nickname for Francesca which I'm not sure 'goes' with your other children's names. Frankie by itself is top 300 though so, though I've never met one, obviously a perfectly acceptable standalone.

I second the suggestion of Savannah but I'm biased Grin

If you like Casey, Nathan, Caden and Nikita, how about:

Girls:
Amber, Anya, Abbie, Alexa, Ashley, Bailey, Briley, Chloe, Cassidy, Clea, Callie, Danielle, Ellie, Evie, Elodie, Emery, Farrah, Faye, Gianna, Genesis, Georgie, Hayley, Harper, India, Jade, Jordan, Jayla, Kayla, Kaylie, Kelsey, Kyra, Kia, Kendall, Lyla, Layla, Leah, Lacey, Lexie, Lucy, Lily, Macey, Marley, Morgan, Madison, Makenna, Paige, Paisley, Robyn, Roxanne, Riley, Sadie, Sienna, Sasha, Tegan, Taylor, Tia, Zoe, Zia.

Boys:
Aaron, Austin, Ashton, Ashley, Adam, Brogan, Brennan, Brandon, Cole, Caleb, Callum, Cameron, Dylan, Declan, Damon, Damien, Dominic, Evan, Ethan, Finn, Harley, Hayden, Jake, Jordan, Jayden, Jared, Kyle, Kieran, Kai, Lucas, Logan, Milan, Owen, Parker, Preston, Rhys, Ryan, Sam, Tyler, Tian, Zach

Xander is nice; not keen on Brent though.
Not sure about Frankie for a girl either.

Thinking of your DC's names, how about:
Jamie
Harvey
Ashton
Liam
Kieran
Aidan

Jasmine
Lottie
Michaela
Laila
Keira
Jade

cece the reason why i try to have name sorted by 20 weeks is so then it gives ds2 time to practice saying it due to his speech problems and it has caused problems in the past which is why dd's name got shortned the way it did i did this when i was pg with ds3 and by the time he came along ds2 could say it quite clearly until after birth only me dp and dc's will know the babys name to everyone else dc5 is blob

manic brogan has just gone on the list Grin

littlecherbublegs like laila but do you know how it is pronounced ?

sanity, you do not need to justify your reasons for wanting to find a name earlier in your pregnancy than others might. Thanks you made it really clear in your op that that was not what we were discussing... just the names!

Laila is just pronounced like Layla, but is a nicer spelling, i think.

Larissa?

Frederika?

sanity , had another couple of thoughts

what about Darcy for a girl? also Cody, which i think can be for boy or girl.

Littlecherublegs · 03/09/2012 10:19

Yes, I'd pronounce Laila as 'Lay-la', its just a different spelling.

Maya is also nice. Of Leah? Lola? Lydia?
