Is it the hormones?

So we found out we are having a boy and had more or less agreed on Edward as the name with Ted or Ned for everyday.
Today, out of nowhere, Rupert popped into my head and I really like it. My husband didn't sound too aghast but did mention he thinks it is a bit wet sounding, although said he had taught a nice one.
What do u think, is Rupert a nice name of have I gone mad? Or could I use it as a middle name?

Rupert is a fabulous name, but I think most people are too nervous to use it, and would settle for Edward Rupert (which is totally fabulous!).


Have a look at him when he's born....Rupert might really suit him.

I just suggested Rupert to my DH who also said a bit wet but I think it's a really great name. Keep it in mind and see what he looks like?

I knew a Rupert who told everyone his name was Rob as he was embarrassed by it, TBH.

Rupert is a great name. I personally find it more interesting than Edward.

Thank u for the opinions. I still like it and ran it past my sister today, she didn't hate it. Think I might start a full on campaign with dh to convince him it is the way forward- the men in both our families have a tradition of using their middle names so if we went for Rupert Edward then he could always follow in their footsteps and use Edward!

Love love love!! Both those names were our choices for a boy.... We're having a girl.
I knew a grown up Rupert and he was lovely and the name suited him perfectly.
I personally think you should go with Rupert, there are so many Neds and Teds nowadays.

Rupert is a great name and agree it's much more interesting than Edward. I know a lovely 12 year old Rupert.

He could be Roo when a toddler and Bertie later on... thought the full name is fab. Met a cat called Rupert yesterday, named after Rupert Grint of all people.
