Baby names

Iris or Beatrix?

There is still sometime to change my mind but atm I am getting there with a boys name.

So I'm between Iris and Beatrix for a girl both with Elizabeth as a middle name.

I prefer Iris.

I like Beatrice, but the "trix" in Beatrix is a bit dominatrixy.

I love the name Beatrix, but not with Elizabeth as a middle name. So, if it's got to be Elizabeth, then Iris is better.

(Beatrix is great, as Bee as an abb. is so so so lovely).

Trixie is a very cool nn for Beatrix. I'd choose that one.

Doesn't have to be Elizabeth.

I've heard Beatrix shortened to TrixIe which I can't decide if I like or not I used to think it was sweet not sure if it may sound a bit dare I say porn star. So I get how the trix part could be disliked but I mutiny Beatrix makes me think of Beatrix Potter.

Iris is a name I've always liked and dh hasn't but he has had a change of heart.

Beatrix is a lovely name. I think it works really well with Elizabeth as a middle name (as long as your surname doesn't begin with a D).

Beatrix is lovely. Stronger than Iris, imo.

I just posted on your other thread! Your girls names are 2 of my favourites too! Plus we would also have Elizabeth as a middle name! So, Iris is my fave of the 2 but that is because I much prefer Beatrice to Beatrix. I completely agree that Trixie sounds like a porn star....sorry to any mums of Trixie's out there!

Beatrix. Iris will always be iris Robinson for me; before she made the news I always considered it a name for a wallflower. So to speak.

Beatrix imo has a lot of feistiness.

My GGM was Florence Beatrice and one of her daughters was called Iris Beatrice. Both Iris and Beatrice are lovely. I personally wouldn't go with Beatrix though.

LOVE Beatrix or Beatrice and think Bea or Bebe are gorgeous nns. Beatrix Elizabeth is a bit of a mouthful and doesn't flow, but don't think that's a disaster.

Iris is beautiful and my favourite of the two. Love Beatrice but not Beatrix so much.

I'm a bit torn as I've always wanted Iris during my previous pregnancies and dh was completely against it So I thought of Beatrice/Beatrix and grew to love that two.

Now dh decides he actually stimulidp Iris!

Iris.

Elegant for an adult, Risso and Rissy and cute nns for a child!

Think that is true bird.

Also think Iris is probably a bit more timeless

Seriously can't decide, I love both of them but a close friend has a Beatrice and DH doesn't like Iris - but they're both gorgeous and seriously cool names

Although if Beatrix I'd go with Bea not Trixie

I like Iris but not Risso or Rissy, I prefer Beatrix to Beatrice and the NN Trixy is for poodles.

Both lovely names (I have a Beatrice myself) and whilst we preferred that spelling, I think the Beatrix version looks fresh and modern. Trixy is a bit of a marmite nn though.
Iris was on my long list of names but DP wasn't keen.

Mmm I really can't decide either the other day I was set on Iris now I'm going back and fourth again.

Part of the reason I liked Iris is because I didn't imagine it to me shortened?

All my dcs have names that imo can't be shortened which I like. Otherwise it isn't often you hear their real name.

I do have a Daisy though. I don't see a problem with it but some have said I shouldn't have two flower names?

In this area I would say Iris is less come across actually I haven't come cramps one at all yet but have come across a Beatrix a few times. I do like that version but not the nn and part of me think Beatrice is a bit more classic
