I like Sylvie but worry it may be a bit trendy - perhaps the new Amelie?

I haven't heard of it becoming popular yet. Sophia/Sofia is definitely making a comback so Sylvie would be a great choice.

Very pretty name.

Sylvie is very old fashioned in France - take a look at this chart which shows that the heyday of Sylvie was in 1964.

It's a truly horrible name in French!

I think it's becoming a bit trendy, yes.

I don't know any little Sylvies. Have a look at last year ONS statistics to see how often it was used last year.

I agree that it's 'on trend' and liable to date.

Haven't met or heard of one yet. The only places I've seen it mentioned is on MN and the Topsy & Tim books (she's one of the bullies)

I met a beautiful little 2 year old Sylvie this morning. I think there are a few around but not loads.

Lovely name. Met a Sylvia (in her 70s), but never a Sylvie.

Both my SIL and my Sister's MIL are Sylvia. They are both lovely. Would Sylvia be an option?

Know 1 Sylvie (2yrs). I love it. Like Sylvia too. Had a friend Sylvia and her Mum called her Sylv which was lovely I think.

I like Sylvia more. Sylvie is a bit wispy by comparison imo.

My dd was Sylvie-Rose. ( she died last week aged 7 weeks Sad ) There was also another Sylvie in the NICU so think it may be becoming popular.

Not great, math but have good support from friends and neighbours and also from a lot of lovely ladies on MN. She was a beautiful baby, born prematurely but had been doing very well. Her death was a total shock.
