No, No, No!

I worked with a lantern jawed, feeble, acne ridden Troy once - how far from his mother's expectations did he end up, I wonder?

Reminds me of Troy (the one with the horse) so don't really like it. If you like 'different' names but still ones people know/spell/say what about ones like:

Dax
Cole
Trent
Curt/Curtis
Brent
Cane/Kane
Blaine/Blain
Todd
Quinn
Randy
Trey
Chase
Levi
Robin

I like it, i knew a Troy when i was a teenager and it really suited him, if you like it then go for it (don't listen to anyone else).

I like Troy. Also like Quinn. Simple, masculine and easy to say/spell.

I knew a female Troy. Not sure whether I like it or dislike it to be honest. I think it is ok.

High School Musical is all I think when I hear it although it is lovely!

When I was pregnant with DD I, convinced she was going to be a boy, decided to call her Troy. DH wouldn't allow it and it clashed hilariously with our last name. Probs a good thing she popped out as a girl then!

DP's fitness instructor is called Troy. It suits a big musclebound bruiser somehow.

I like Troy Trey and Trent. I do not imagine a wimpy boy to be called Troy.

Troy is despicable. Reminds me either of a Crips/Blood member in South Central LA, or a beach bum in Brisbane who drinks too much beer.

Haha - watching High School Musical 2 right now with 6 year old dancing around in sunglasses. Name is synonymous with fake tanned smug teenagers, sorry!

Black boy name.
I like Black people (by which I mean "African-American), just saying, for a lot of us (generational thing?) it's got a strong specific cultural association. So on a black boy I wouldn't blink but on a white kid I'd be thinking it was odd (I could get over "odd", but I'd still have that confused moment... and suspect many others would do same.. some might end up saying rude things about it)

It reminds me of all the thickos kids in my school who thought that Brad Pitt's character in the film was called Troy rather than Achilles Hmm

Bloody awful name imho.

Troy was a female character in the Ngaio Marsh (?) murders, but the only one I've known in RL was male. It's not really a name I like, sorry.

The only Troy I have ever met used to steal from his mother. Sad

I know 2 Troys, both quiet, pleasant, stocky build, freckled boys, generally well-liked. So I like it :)
