Hesper, Cecily, Daisy?

Not keen on Hesper at all (have never heard that as a name) - Hester is slightly better but not great. Daisy is a bit cutesy for my taste, and though twee little flower names seem to be popular right now, I wonder if they'll date badly.

Cecily, however, is lovely! I'd definitely go for that one. Cecilia is nice as well.

There seems to be too many Daisy's. It's alright not amazing (a bit like Maisie/Maizie)

Hesper just reminds be of Hester which is too ghost story like. And a old (as in a old lady) name. But I like the nn of Hetty/Hettie. I prefer Ester or Asta/Astrid/Asteria/Astria

Cecily is the best out of the three. Actually Cecily/Cecilia/Ceila/Cecelia/Cesia are all good (esp if you are musical :P )

Love Cecily and Daisy and Daisy especially is a beautiful old English name (but not unusual if that's what you're looking for).

Don't like Hesper at all but love the other two (and I have one of them!). Hester is one of my favourite names but dp didn't like it.

Hesper doesn't feel right to me. Hester makes a crisper, less muddled sound and so I prefer it to Hesper. Hester still isn't a name I am much fond of though. Cecily is lovely. Apparently it has it's roots in a less-than-great meaning (blind) but then Claudia's roots are similar (lame) and so does it really make much difference? It's the nicest of your suggestions, classy, pretty, different.
Daisy is a name that to me means a little, dull, stepped on thing that people spray with herbicides. As flowers go daisies are nice, but they don't hold thier own in the respect stakes like perhaps violets or primroses or other small flowers. This puts me off. Besides, it was so trendy for ages, I'm bored of it now.

I love Hesper! But nobody else ever seems to like it. I find it really bizarre because I don't even like it an an 'old lady' or 'weird' way - I just think it's a beautiful name :( It sounds like 'whisper' and it has lovely associations with the evening star etc. I would choose it from your list, definitely, but other people's reactions would give me pause.

I love Cecily (and Cicely too). Pretty and unusual.

Daisy is a nice name but a bit too popular just now I think, if that bothers you.

I think Hesper is the nicest - classic, traditional, feminine and not overused.

Cecily - dislike the meaning (cecil - blind, I think in Latin)

Daisy - overused and too cutesy

I have never heard of Hesper, so would stick to Hester but don't like either. Daisy always makes me think of cows. Cecily is best.

I had Hesper on my long list too - nearly made it as a middle.

Is Hesper really a classic, traditional name? Am I the only one who has never in my life heard of it? When I saw the thread I thought the OP had misspelled Hester!

I agree it's a very pretty meaning. Maybe I just need to get used to it being an actual name...

Yes, Ephiny, Hesper has its roots in Greek mythology. The Hesperides were nymphs and one of them was often given the name Hespere/Hesperia/Hespera. Hesperis is the personification of evening and the evening star is Hesperus.

I did think Hesperus actually, but didn't really make the connection, that makes sense now I think about it. Never heard 'Hesper' used as a name though, so a bit surprised that it's considered a classic! Just my ignorance, most likely...

Cecily is lovely. Haven't heard of Hesper but like others on here I like Hester a lot! Daisy is my least fav of your list.

Hester is obviously a totally cool name. (And not mine in RL, though I quite wish it was.)

I'd not heard of Hesper, either. I rather like it, though everyone will think it's Hester. Cecily is quite nice, though a bit little miss for me. Daisy is very pretty, but popular if that is an issue for you.
