I'm slightly surprised to find myself saying that I really like it.

Love nn Juno.

I'm normally very traditional, I don't know how it's caught my eye. I even quite like 'Juni' as a nickname.

Yes, wanted to call dd2 it, but with the surname would of sounded like a cartoon character. Loved it, from the film benny & joon :)

I like it, but be careful. I once met a Verbena, who has never, ever forgiven her parents.

Are you OK with the Percy Jackson reference? (she's a tree spirit, girlfriend of Grover, the satyr - an OK character)

But the nn harmless?

It would be with a eastern european surname. Siblings: Mila, Illona, Lawrence, Andryi (Andrew here)

It's very pretty but perhaps a little pretentious. I'd also avoid it because it reminds me of gin!

suspiria · 04/07/2011 22:33

I think it's quite sweet.

Just named my friends DD's new rocking horse this Grin

HerRoyalNotness · 04/07/2011 23:19

I'd use it for my potential DD if a friend hadn't bagged it for her potential DD, potentially Grin

I love it.

The "nipper" sound puts me off. Jew nipper.

I think immediately of gin, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I know a Juniper who is in her mid-30s. Her sister is Saffron. I think they are actually both lovely names. Not my normal style (I like old fashioned names) but I think it is really quite nice.

Old naked bloke in the Life of Brian. I would giggle if I heard it

Mmmmmm, gin. Is 7:09 too early?!

It's my daughter's name! Apart from being called a hippy a couple of times it has got very good reactions. One lady from work did mention gin.. but that doesn't bother me. We do call her Juno.

Ooh I like that! I might have to add it to my own list!

I know two sisters called Juniper and Rowan, to be fair though they did get a lot of flack in their teens

I am a real names traditionalist but Juniper is lovely, lovely, lovely. Not icky in a Bluebell-type flower name way just kinda strong and earthy. Gorgeous.

Not sure - a bit hippy-dippy perhaps

Report
BBNElea · 07/07/2011 21:30

I think it makes an interesting alternative to the many popular flower names and Juno would make a spunky nickname. In the Victorian language of flowers Juniper meant 'succour, protection'.

I like it very much, I like the 60's hippy connotations it brings to mind :)

I love it, but our surname is Jones, so not sure it would really work

I saw the title of the thread and instantly thought juniper berry scene from Monty Python's life of Brian. It's different but not totally out there iyswim. I quite like it.
