OK - my daughter is still not here. I am now 41 weeks ...

My DH's favourite name is Stella.

When I told my Dad he said -"Really? Like the beer?"

But its a nice name I think - does it matter that an 'orrible lager is named after it?

What do you think?

(Mumsnet collectively provided great feedback on my favourite name last week, so its DH's turn this week!)

I think it's quite a nice name and my DH thinks it's definitely a nice beer. The only thing that would put me off is Stella McCartney she always looks so damn miserable.....................!

artois? Sorry that's the first thing that comes to mind.

Definitely think first of the beer - and it doesn't help that it's a notorious one, nicknamed "wife beater".

Think second of the new landlady of The Rovers.

The loaded/aristocratic (McCartney/Tennant) can carry it off, though.

Love it - it was our second choice name for dd. We liked that it means 'star' in Latin. The Stella Artois thing didn't really cross our radar.

I love Stella. Estella is even more beautiful if it works with your surname. What's your favourite name?

Beer, vegetarian fanatics.

Estella would be okay.

Lovely. I don't think of the beer at all.

Ooh there's an active thread about induction-might be useful for you, good luck.

If you're worried about Stella Artois then Estella would be no better. Estrella Damm lager anyone?

Personally I love them both (the lagers and the names)

I immediately think of the lager I'm afraid. I also find it quite harsh sounding. How about Saskia?

It makes me think of the baby in 'Shameless', sorry!

I like it, but think Estella is even nicer.

A friend of mine is quite a drinker. Her daughter went to pre-school and when they all said their names one little girl said Stella...she then shouted "Beer!". Nuff said Grin

Love Stella but if you're worried about the beer connections go for Estella and have Stella as nn. But have known an adult Stella the past 20 yrs and the beer never once crossed my mind, nor did it when Stella was on my names shortlist for DC.
