I've only known one Astrid and she was Chinese/White British heritage and it suits her well so not being Scandinavian wouldn't be a problem. Go for it it's a lovely name

I love it too. My best friend at primary school, who was British-German, was called Astrid - she used to get called Asterix of course...

I think names ending in "rid" sound harsh. Ingrid, Astrid etc. They sound softer when spoken by a Scandinavian, but don't go well into English.

I like it and for some reason much prefer it to Ingrid. If you love it then use it, don't worry about what anybody else thinks.
