I'm due to be in on Friday to have DC2 and we are really struggling with names. I need to come up with a first and a second name from this lot. Any opinions, please? We're trying for something not completely out there but not overly common, either.

Arabella
Cecilia
Elizabeth
Felicity
Lara
Phoebe
Sophia
Sorrell
Thea
Verity

They are all lovely names. I like Verity Elizabeth. What's the initial of your surname?

You can't go wrong with Elizabeth and it has so many lovely nickname potentials for all ages too. Lizzie, Beth, Liz, Betty...... That's what I'd chose from your list. Also like Thea.

I agree with smother about Elizabeth.

Elizabeth Sorrell is just gorgeous IMO. I really like Lara from your list as well, perhaps with Elizabeth as a middle name.

Thea, Felicity and Verity are not to my liking. The others are ok.

I love Elizabeth too

And Lara

Sorrell is lovely too

I think, there will be more and more Elizabeths around very soon, though, if that matters

Love all of them but particularly Cecilia and Elizabeth - plenty of nickname potential, suit all ages and personalities, and not too popular right now so they won't date.

I love Verity and Sorrell as first names, and Verity Elizabeth sounds lovely, as per bagelmonkey's suggestion. Actually, all those names are appealing, I think - nice and traditional without totally buying into the granny-chic thing - although Felicity and Arabella I'm a little less keen on than the others.

Cecilia is lovely - it's our DD's middle name and if we'd known that DD3 was on the cards we would have kept it with nn Cece Smile

We have a Felicity Faith aged 2. We call her Fliss/Flissy my dad calls her Filly. It's strange that there seems to be a lot of people considering Felicity at the moment.DD1 [12] chose Felicity as she was reading Malory Towers books when we had DD2! I always had Fenella in mind, but she really suits Felicity.

My goddaughter is an Elizabeth but mainly known as Lizzie or binks and I think it's a beautiful name. I know a couple of Verity's think it has become more popular in last few years but beautiful (I have an Ellie (far too common and so wish we had called her something else now!) and a Hattie (opposite problem that we didnt know any other Hattie's but 2 know of 2 babies born this year that have been named Hattie!)

I love Elizabeth, Phoebe and Thea.

I like Felicity and Cecilia.

The others are all alright, bar Verity which is too twee for my tastes.

I always like to make sure that the initials won't spell anything you might regret!

Thanks everyone! So many choices! I'll have to consult the clan again (but not DS, who's 3 and insists that he wants to call the baby James), and will hope that I can get online from the ward over the weeekend.

Exciting!
