trying to conceive anf for family reasons would really like a boys name beging with a or a girls name begiining with G
other criteria include not in top 50 ideally not in top 100 . unusual but not weird .not popular in the recent past that is last 30 to 40 years . dh insists not poncey for either sex

so far i have for boys
algernon nn algie i relly like this
ambrose i like dh does not
abraham
alfred not alfie if neceesry nn freddie but would probably end up as alfie

and for girls
gladys i love dh loathes
gertrude too cruel ?
genevieve dh thinks too poncey i like
giselle
gerda
greta
gretchen
gwendoline /gwendolyn

gussie as a nn for augusta

any other suggestions

Boys - Not that keen on any of the boys, but if I had to choose it would be Abraham, shortened to Abe.

Archibald?
Aristotle?

Girls - please don't call your daughter Gertrude.

Love Genevieve and Giselle.

Is gretchen not a character from Warhammer - what about Gretel?

Gussie makes me think of gusset.

What about Gwyn? Glynda? Gillian?

I like Abraham and Ambrose or...

Austin?

I like Gerda (if pronounced Gare-da rather than Gurda) and Greta or...

Gail?

the problem with girls g names seems that most are very harsh or old ladyish (if not plain ugly )eg gladys or gertrude or very popular either now or in my generation eg gemma ,grace and gillian and very little in between

a names for boys not nearly as much of a problem .atticus is lovely but i'm not brave enough also ashton , asher and ardal might work (we have an irish heritage )

how funny
my dad was an A - Arthur
my mum a G - Genevieve

I have siblings Gregory, Geraldine and Georgina... I was nearly Giselle or Gemma... HmmGrin

my faves would be Adam for a boy, and probably Genevieve for a girl.
