I've been feeling a bit ropey so decided to do a Thriva female hormones test to see if I was menopausal. My hormones are certainly heading that way, but surprisingly my TSH was out of whack (surprising because I'd had it checked at my GP a couple of months before and it was 4).
Thriva results:
13.2 mIU/L range 0.27 - 4.3
Free t4 - 13 pmol/L range 12-24
I wanted to get more info so I did a Medichecks thyroid profile too, a couple of weeks later.
Medichecks:
Iron Status
Ferritin 61.6 ug/L (Range: 13 - 150)
Vitamins
Folate - Serum ! Sample error
Vitamin B12 - Active 56.300 pmol/L (Range: 37.5 - 188)
Thyroid Hormones
TSH X 8.49 mIU/L (Range: 0.27 - 4.2)
Free T3 4.05 pmol/L (Range: 3.1 - 6.8)
Free Thyroxine 13.400 pmol/L (Range: 12 - 22)
Autoimmunity
Thyroglobulin Antibodies X 621.000 kU/L (Range: < 115)
Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies X 350 kIU/L (Range: < 34)
So, my TSH seems to be variable, my T3 and T4 are on the low side of normal, but it seems to be consistent, and my antibodies are massively elevated.
My GP has been distinctly uninterested in testing my antibodies in the past as she says my T4 is normal.
I don't feel awful, but maybe I could feel better. How do you know? Has anyone got any advice on whether I need to insist on an endocrinologist or at least having these tests repeated by the NHS? I also don't mind paying for private advice from an endocrinologist, if anyone has a recommendation for someone in the north-west?
Thanks!
