Do I need a special foot or needle for my sewing machine, and what sort of thread should I use?

Thanks storm. I have a distant memory of domestic science classes and jersey fabric being tricky. I'll give it a go.

yes you need a ball point needle so it slides and does not catch the fabric. no need for a special foot.

jersey is best suited to stitches other than single straight. the one that goes three forward then three back then three forward is always good as is anything that does a sideways step and back.

I also find that if you stretch the fabric slightly it tends not to break the thread so easy when wearing the garment.

biggest problem is getting a needle jam as its sucks everything into a black whole much worse than ordinary fabric.

no need to do edges with most jerseys which makes it much quicker to sew with.
