I have recently had dc3. In the evenings once all the kids are finally in bed I'd like something to keep my hands busy, basically so I stop stuffing my face with biscuits and crisps. I need it to be relatively easy and relaxing, I'm pretty tired at the moment. ie something I can do sitting on the sofa. I was thinking knitting or crocheting but no idea where or how to start. Any advice with what to do and how to go about it would be very greatfully received.

Personally I found crochet easier than knitting but worth trying both. Bella Coca you tube videos and Little Tin Bird are the two online instructions that tend to be quite popular on here.

Start by making a basic granny square and then once you've mastered that, you've got the basics sorted. If you can get hold of a 4mm hook and some Stylecraft Special DK wool, then you can always send your finished squares to Woolly Hugs - have a look at the threads in there and see if there's anything that particularly appeals - Candy's hugs is one of the main ongoing projects but there are others. We're a friendly bunch, so there'll be lots of help there if you need it!

Another shout out for Bella Coco's tutorials, they were the first ones that I really got on with and she's pretty good at answering questions as well.

I'd also second the Stylecraft Special DK, cheap, easy to work and comes in lovely colours.
