Just started to teach myself how to knit but finding it so hard to understand the terminology of things! Does anyone have any tips or good books etc on how to gain a deeper understanding for a complete beginner? Took me half an hour and a lot of YouTube tutorials to learn how to cast off

Take a look at Deramores website. Lots of helpful videos on there.

Knitting for dummies helped me a lot when i got back into it, but I'm sure you could google it and find some extracts from the book.
