I want to knit a mustard chunky scarf - after a bit of advice

I want to knit a simple one like this

Is it just moss stitch? Do you know what size needles? Would just a standard chunky yarn do or does it need to be bigger - Rowan Big Wool size?

Thanks.

This looks really similar to this cowl www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gap-tastic-cowl which is moss stitch and uses chunky yarn and 9mm needles. (I think it's a copy of a GAP cowl). I'd use the same to make the scarf.

P.S. I'm making the cowl at the moment using suggested sizes hence finding the pattern! I'm using Debbie bliss rialto chunky
