Play house makeover ideas please

We have a playhouse in the garden which has been unloved for a couple of years since ds grew out of it. Dd (9)has asked if she can have it cleaned up for her Christmas present (Santa only brings stockings here, we bring the big/expensive stuff)
Anyway, I'm rambling. The playhouse is 6' x 8' with a tiny loft bit. I'm looking for ideas on how to make it a cool place to hang out with friends. I've had a look on Pinterest but I know you guys have loads of creative ideas so I thought I'd seek a bit of inspiration here Smile

I would choose a very simple theme which can be updated as her tastes develop.

So in terms of colour, grey and green or grey and a heritage blue would be pretty.

Choose some outdoor beanbags which won't be affected by the damp...two should be enough....and on the wall, I'd add a big blackboard painted area for her to "graffiti" or a large white board with some wipeable pens.

A rug on the floor from Ikea and some storage bags hooked to the walls for her stuff...whatever she wants to add in them....that will save space on storage and she can pick the fabric if you can sew.

A hammock (is it big enough?) slung low with lots of cushions so a few can sit and swing in it together...

Is it weatherproof, as in glazed windows? If so, curtains, easily strung up on net curtain wires so they can be washed or swapped.

A little 'kitchen in a cupboard' with plates and cups, so if they take a picnic down they can set it all out nicely (if your DD is into that). Does your DD want it more to "play house" or "play dens", because the contents would vary!

A wind-up radio? Battery-operated fairy lights (kept in a waterproof box when not in use so they don't get damp). Windchimes?

Yes, thanks for the ideas. I love the hammock suggestion! Also the hooks, chalkboard and the wind up radio. I'm thinking of making the upstairs like a sofa with a foam base and lots of scatter back cushions?

What do you think of tenting the roof? At the moment it's ugly is or similar.

When the playhouse was outgrown here it stopped working because of head height, DD didn't physically fit through the door without stooping so we sold it and replaced it with something bigger.

Inside we used roof insulation behind plywood that Dh cut to fit the sections of the new house. Then we painted it and I made some curtains.

Perhaps you could line the roof with plywood and paint it. The insulation made an absolutely massive difference and it was used for sleeping out in the garden at New Year Shock.

Must add that we lined and insulated it all though all four sides plus the roof. DH did a lovely job ..... then we moved and left it there!
