It's DHs birthday on Friday. I've ordered an A2 frame and framing some photos from his first marathon last year, plus his race number and medal. Photos and number are easy but how on earth can I attach the medal to the backing card? Presumably it will be too heavy for glue and will just fall off, please help!

First of all, will it actually fit inside the frame? If it is too big, maybe take a picture of it to put inside the frame with the photo's than using double sided tape drape it over the corner of the frame outside once it is hung up? If it is thin enough to go inside the frame then you can buy a double sided tape that should be strong enough to hold it in place. Most places like The Range or a good stationery shop should stock it. I know Sellotape make one.

Glue gun sticks almost anything

You can stitch it to the card- but I would use a slip frame or something to avoid it pressing against the glass.

Do you want it permanently glued though? I would be wary of doing anything that might ruin it.

If it has a ribbon, would that hang over the top of the backing card so you could attach it to the back?
