Rag Rugs

Hello

I want to make a rag rug for my daughter's bedroom. By 'rag rug' I mean the rugs made from various coloured strips of fabric threaded through a hessian style fabric. Rather than do just a block of colour I'd like to do a simple design which I have on paper. I am just at a loss as to how to transfer the design to the fabric for me then to use it as a guide? Does anyone have any experience of this and if so how is it done? Thanks.

transfer the design to a paper with a grid on. Mark a scaled up grid on the hessian and then copy the design? like those copy the drawing things in colouring books?

Not an expert, just the way tyhat I would tackle it.

As LackaDAISYcal says above...

Plus you can buy a special transfer pen or pencil for marking out designs and when you have finished gently hold the iron over it and the heat makes the markings disappear. Or you can use tailor's chalk and brush it off when you have finished.

Here's a good tutorial
