Termination didn't work properly, anyone else had this?

Had a medical termination nearly 10 weeks ago, been bleeding ever since, over the weekend had awful pain on and off as though I was in labour, saw GP who diagnosed an infection or endrometriosis but this evening I had something quite large come out of me, saw GP who said it was a placenta and part of an embryo, he said he'll book me in for an emergency scan in the next week.

Anyone had any experience of something similar?
Am rather confused.

Hey there, I had this. It was a while ago, but once the big piece of matter had passed (really sorry, this is graphic) the bleeding tailed off pretty quickly. Hope you're ok. Makes a stressful, traumatic situation even more difficult.

why did you not see the doc earlier?
10 weeks of bleeding is not normal

Oh how awful for you. I have no experience of this but I do know that this can happen with miscarriages - that it can be incomplete and lead to infection. In this case an erpc ('evacuation of retained products of conception') can be done and probably antibiotics will be needed as well.

I would want a scan now and would even go as far as suggesting A&E, this is not normal and needs dealing with as soon as possible.

Eldon-I did attend my 6 week(ish) check and the GP didn't feel my stomach or anything, I told him the bleeding was still there but pretty light and he checked my blood pressure, which he said was fine.

I have called the gyno day unit who have said to just wait for the scan date to come through and that I may need a D&C, I think if I went to A&E they'd just say thge same and I'd get told off for wasting time.

Am having a few minor cramps but nothing major, didn't sleep too well, kept dreaming about awful things, can't help thinking that this I desrve this somehow. just about holding it together, If it wasn't for the DCs I think I would have broken down by now.

The GP said he'd sort out an emergency(!) one in the next week or so.
When I called the day surgery the nurse said its pretty common, its a shame they don't tell you this may happen, or maybe they did and I didn't take it in.

Please please go to A&E. They shouldn't be fobbing you off with waiting for a scan date given that this has been going on for over 2 months and you are clearly in pain and distress.

I've just had a mc and was told that if the bleeding suddenly got heavier or I was in a lot more pain that I should go to A&E. I think this applies to you as it has suddenly got worse, so please don't feel bad about going to A&E if you are not getting what you need from your GP.

Don't tell A&E that you have been told to wait for a scan if you don't want to. Just say you don't know what is happening, that you are in lots of pain and tell them what you have passed. They won't turn you away without examining you first and that will likely include the scan you probably need.

your GP should be able to get you seen in the emergency gynae unit much sooner

either hassle the GP or just go to A&E

Megonthemoon-the thing is I'm not in a lot of pain now, and also I have DD2 with me so would have to take her.

Eldon-I'll give the GP practice a call to make sure the scan is going through, the thing is in this area, they never seem to rush things like this. SIL had to wait nearly a week to be seen when she was having a m/c. I feel like I'm being a pita, and because they've said its pretty normal, its like I should have been expecting it, but I didn't know that I should.
