Antenatal tests

Plateau HCG levels

Hi I posted this in pregnancy and had no response so thought I would try here. Has anyone had ok rising HCG levels and then have them slow at 30000 or around the 6 week mark?

Last Tuesday - 21900
Thursday - 30200
Friday - 30600
Yesterday Monday - 32300

I was sent for serial Hcg tests after a bleed last week (which has since stopped) and am worried that the numbers arn’t going up. I also had a scan on Friday where the fetal pole measured 6w 0d (6w 3d lmp) but the heart rate was only 97.

I just don’t know what to make of the slow rising numbers. My gp said it’s good they are still going up but they aren’t strong and that the heart rate is low.
I would love to hear stories of similar situations and if possible their outcomes

I don’t have a similar story but didn’t want to not reply as I too posted on pregnancy around a miscarriage fear and received no reply.

I do know that as pregnancies progress they aren’t looking for as large increases as previously but I don’t know much more than that. Is it worth contacting your early pregnancy unit at the hospital for advice as GPs aren’t specialists in this area? I know heartbeats can increase to expected levels so the fact it’s slow know isn’t necessarily a bad thing and seeing a heartbeat is a good sign so early - do you have another scan booked?

Wishing you much luck x

I'm going to be honest OP and say the low heart rate and the plateauing numbers never had a good outcome for me - I really hope that this isn't the case for you and it's just a glitch with the blood test etc x

Thanks you for both for your reply
@Mum2baby07 - I have another scan tomorrow and have moved my ob appointment up to the 7th (but that still feels like such a long way away)

@andivfmakes3 I am sorry for your loss(/es)
I know all three warning signs don’t bode well together. I still feel very pregnant so am trying my best to stay positive

@Mum2baby07 I am so sorry to hear that! I don’t know why I just assumed your fear worked out - sorry I’m not in my most critical thinking state.
Thinking of you xo

Thank you @Mum2baby07. I am so sorry you are going through this? How far along are you? I lost a previous one at 9 weeks

Scan went ok today baby measured 6w4d and 6w5d (was hoping for 6w6d) and had a heart rate of 128bpm.
I can’t help but feel that the hcg is foreboding something else to come but very happy to see that flashing light.

@Bibbidiboo that’s a strong heart rate and Good measurement for your dates so I would take much confidence from that! I’m so pleased for you.

I’m 8+4 but according to last scan at 8wks baby was only measuring 3.5mm and no heartbeat. Repeat scan next Friday 4th if I make it that long as slow but steady bleed for a week now. I think the inevitable is happening sadly.

Will keep everything crossed for you to continue on your positive journey! Please let me know how you’re doing at your 12 wk scan x

@Mum2baby07 I’m so sorry. Feel free to msg me if you want to chat. It’s such a heartbreaking thing to go through and worse that it is so slow and so much waiting.
