Quad test results - concerned šŸ˜”

Hi there ladies, Iā€™m new here and Iā€™m desperate need of some reassuring advice. I had a quad test with my results being very high positive. I am 33 years old and the doctor said my percentage was of that of a 44 year old woman šŸ˜” I have a 1:3 chance of having a baby with Down syndrome. With also my husband only being 26 years old, we didnā€™t expect this at all and the news was devastating.

These are my MoM results,

AFP - 0.65 MoM
HCG - 1.88 MoM
UE3 - 0.24 MoM
Inhibin A - 3.15 MoM

Iā€™m just looking for any insight off any other ladies who have been in a similar situation. We went on to have the Non invasive DNA cell blood test, but currently on a 7 days wait for results and itā€™s killing us.

I never measured my NT on an ultrasound, but I have had many scans due to a ruptured placenta about 4 weeks ago. My baby doesnā€™t show any characteristics at all of that of a baby with Down syndrome and from what I can see, no NT at the back of the neck either. The doctor also agrees that the baby looks normal on ultrasound.

Iā€™m not sure if anyone out there can help, but any kind of reassuring news would be amazing right now. Thank you šŸ™šŸ¼

Hi @Concernedmumma, so sorry you are going through this. We found out from our screening test after dating scan that we too here high risk, itā€™s so so stressful. I went on to have the harmony test and results came back in less than a week with the all clear. I know itā€™s hard just just try and keep positive, the wait is the hardest part.

Hi MissDrifter, thank you so much for your message. Itā€™s probably one of the hardest weeks of our lives. I kind of wish the doctor hadnā€™t given me my ratio and informed how high of a risk we are :( as I know many ladies get the same scare but things ends up being ok šŸ¤žšŸ¼ I had a further blood test called Acucize which Iā€™m guessing is the same as the Harmony test. I live in Thailand and that was the option here. The only thing I can hold hope for is the fact that with all the scans I have (which is quite a few due to a ruptured placenta over Xmas) the baby doesnā€™t show any signs whatā€™s so ever and those were also the doctors words. Still have no explanation for my sky high Inhibin A test. Wish I knew more when it came to this. So glad you had negative results and went on to have a healthy baby :)

I had combined screening at 12 weeks and my results have come back as high risk for downs syndrome. I am only 27 so the fetal medicine unit told me my results were very uncommon for my age. My risk is 1:120 which i know doesnt seem high but given the fact my age isnt taken into account nor any previous history etc it's purely my NT measurement and bloodtest results that are giving me high risk. We have refused further screening and will wait and see what comes up at the 20 week scan however i cannot see a nasal bone in any of our scan photos so im sure something is going to be found. I just cant shake the feeling if you know what i mean?

Hi @Puddlejumper1 sorry you are going through this, itā€™s a scary time. Have you thought about having the harmony test? Itā€™s not a diagnostic but itā€™s very reliable for DS and itā€™s also non invasive. I was fortunate that my hospital offered it for free but I think you can pay private if not offered on NHS before the blood test, I was scanned by a consultant who checked for any markers.

Hi ladies, I just wanted to let you know that my results came back completely normal. After paying for a NIPT test called Acusize which is the same non invasive test as the Harmony test, my baby boys chromosomes came back negative for everything, which was a huge relief. The wait was very painful and difficult for the results. @Puddlejumper1 if you are too able to get this non invasive test done, just for peace of mind I do advise. I am not sure what week you are on now but waiting 8 weeks will be a long stretch. Thankfully your odds arenā€™t too high. Letā€™s just hope that the scan wasnā€™t clear enough for you to see the bone, as some of mine werenā€™t either and Iā€™ve had quite a few due to a ruptured placenta back at Christmas.
I wish you good luck and I know exactly what youā€™re going through. Iā€™m sure everything will be ok šŸ¤žšŸ¼šŸ˜Š
