Midwife Appointments

Hi everyone!

I just joined today as I'm currently pregnant with my first. I'm 26 and I'll be 10 weeks on Wednesday.

I had an appointment with a midwife at my GP on 30th December when I was 8 weeks 5 days which I assume was my booking in appointment. She said she would send a referral to the hospital for my first scan and to ring them on Friday to book it. I rang on Friday but they hadn't received it so will have to chase the midwife on Monday.

When I got home on Friday I had a letter from the hospital with an appointment for Thursday (9th). It's not very obvious what it's for and they've just asked that I bring a urine sample. Surely this won't be my first scan and is just another booking appointment?

I should add the my GP is in Leeds but I live in Wakefield so the midwife wasn't able to take bloods on the 30th. I'm just confused and wondering whether my OH should come with me in case it is the scan?

Sorry for the long post Smile any help appreciated!

It could be your scan. When I went for mine I had to go to ultrasound department for the scan and then up to antenatal for blood tests. This is for the screening test, they have to take blood on same day as the scan.
Whenever you go to antenatal you have to take a urine sample.
My letter didn't explain any of that and I didn't actually know I had to go for bloods until the sonographer told me!
Call the hospital tomorrow to check.

It's usually obvious when it's going to be your scan because they tell you to drink a gallon of water before you come. Also, ten weeks would be very early for the dating scan. But I agree it's worth calling to confirm.

Thank you, I called and checked and it's just another booking appointment but with blood tests this time (due to being out of area)
