Hi all,

Got a question about the harmony test...
I'm 40 and newly pregnant with my 3rd. When I was pregnant with my other two I hadn't heard of the harmony test. Done a bit of google research and it's definitely something I'd consider.
So when is the best time to have it? Did you wait till after the NHS screening tests?
Thanks

Hi. In exact same position as you :-) re age and age of other kids. I've just had Harmony done privately at ten weeks. It was an quick ultrasound to check size of baby and then a blood test.

Will have my NHS scan week after next. Midwife didn't seem to think you needed both but the Harmony guys said you do as they don't do all the developmental checks it's just the blood work to charcoal from genetic abnormalities

That's great, thanks for that.
Can I ask how long the results take?

Check not charcoal! They said about a week.

Yes I thought things had really changed since my last pregnancy if you now have to provide a sample of charcoal 😉 😬

We waited just over a week. We had our harmony tests done after the twelve week scan because I came out as "high" risk for downs. I felt pressured into it to be honest as I said that we don't want an amniocentesis and they just kept going on about how risk my pregnancy was and I just wanted them off my back. I felt annoyed that I had to pay for something that I didn't really want.

I had mine done at the fetal medicine centre in Harley street, and it's cheaper at 10 weeks than later. I'm not sure why. They did a dating scan then the blood test then a nuchal fold scan a week later. Very worth doing if you're 40 (I was 39 when I had mine) as the harmony doesn't get age adjusted the way the nuchal fold does, so it's much more reassuring.
