My Ultra Baby, anyone been?

So, I'm thinking about booking a private scan. I'm about 8 weeks now and my NHS scan isn't until 12+3.

I don't have particular worries or anything (aside from the usual 'is this all fictional, have I made it up' concern ) but I've been pretty nauseous and feeling crappy, which has meant I haven't made it into the office everyday (I have an hour and a half commute each way).

I feel like I'm messing my team about so kind of want to spill the beans, but don't want to tell the office until I've had a scan. Not sure everyone can put up with another month of my 'working from home again today...' Even though I'm certain they will all forgive me when I tell them why, if they haven't already worked it out - they're not daft.

There's a My Ultra Baby local to us in Brentwood, so I'm thinking about trying to get an appointment there. Has anyone used them? I understand they've quite a few branches.

I thought I could be patient, but I just don't think I can be evasive at work for another month!

Any words of wisdom gratefully received xx

Just a word of caution re work. Would you be happy telling your team if your miscarried between 8-12 weeks (chance of mc is still quite high at 8 weeks but drops a lot at 12 weeks), or if you decided to terminate for medical reasons if something shows at the 12 week scan? If not, then maybe best to hold off telling them about the pregnancy till 12 weeks. Don't worry about messing them around - they will get it once you do come clean

Should the worst happen, I would probably tell them anyway; I'd need an explanation for my inevitable absence. We had fertility issues that they were aware of as I had many hospital appointments, so they've probably put two and two together anyway.

If all is well at an earlier scan, with a heartbeat detected, then the chance of pre-12-week MC actually decreases significantly anyway. That's not to say it's a guarantee - that doesn't exist no matter how far down the line you are.

Ah in that case then go for it! My local hospital has an EPU which does walk in early scans for free (they prioritise people with bleeding or pain obviously but they will scan without these too). Is there one near you?
