Me and dh are just watching James May programme on childhood toys. This week is about plasticine.

I piped up I preferred fuzzy felts and was given a sneery look by dh and advised that fuzzy felt was for girls.

Anyone else like fuzzy felts?

I loved loved loved fuzzy felts and will be purchasing the Thomas the Tank Engine special edition tin for my godson this Christmas. I have literally been counting the months til he was old enough to have one. They are my FAVOURITE toy EVER. It will sadly be a long time before our DC is able to have one, as it is still in utero. The moment the opportunity arises though I will be buying one of every type. I had tons when I was little and loved them just as much (more??) back then.

They were fab - am so glad I have a baby on the way so I have an excuse just to play with them again But I remember playing with them with my two best friends who were both boys, and DP has expressed as much excitment as me at the thought of playing with them again getting them for our little one. So don't think its a girl thing!

I LOVED them but the ones today are not as good. I bought some for my DCs and (after spending TWO HOURS pushing the shapes out of the felt squares) I realised that they just weren't the same.

I had ballet, nurse and funfair if I remember rightly. God that takes me back!!

My DD had one for Xmas (or at least a version of fuzzy felt) and loved it. It was from Woolies (now online so maybe still available if you want to feed your nostalgia and get yourself one one for the kids for Xmas)

I made full colour diagrams of internal organs in fuzzy felt when I was at art college.

I'm not sure what that says about me, but I'm pretty sure it's not good.

I had the ballet fuzzy felt!! It was beautiful, the dancers were so graceful. I also had a trippy psttern one with an orange board and loads of seventies style flowery bits and bobs.

I bought the Thomas fuzzies a couple of years ago, and they weren't the same. The fuzzyness was 'wrng' and the feltyness was all stiff.

Mind you, I loved plasticine too. Far better thsn play dough. I loved getting a new pack of it and I loved the smell.

*note to self - buy some plasticine tomorrow!

'wrong' not 'wrng' - sorry too excited to spell properly!

i had the hospital one (bought for me when i had to go in to hospital aged 5) & the ballet one - I spent a lot of time in bed ill when I was small & fuzzy felt was the ideal toy

wish I still had mine, though I suspect the DC would not be impressed!

I loved fuzzy felt as a child but can't stand it as a mother - it gets EVERYWHERE! I can't go anywhere without spotting a bit of it clinging onto the carpet or peeping from between a book, stuck onto dcs' socks....
my sister gave my dcs a big anniversary edition box of the stuff and I agree it's not the same as it used to be but dcs love it (and they're boys!)

Lol displayuntilbestbefore - I was just about to say exactly the same thing!

I loved it too, but OMG it was a nightmare when dc were given a fuzzyfelt type set. It drove me bonkers! All those incy wincy little felt shapes stuck to everything.

I don't remember that happening when I was small. Probably my mum does though.

I loved fuzzy felts as a child and was very excited when I got some for my DC's. Sadly they are obviously not as easy pleased as I was, as they were never played with

tbh I would say about 50% of the fuzzy felt my dcs used to have has now gone to hoover heaven.....(but I don't even feel the slightest bit remorseful! Is that awful?! )
