...without bawling my head off?!

Have I just turned into a big soppy ball of mush since having children? It seems like the slightest bit of anything sentimental sets me off like a flippin' fountain. I was always a bit wet, but I seem to just cry at the drop of a hat now! I'm dreading things like school plays when they're bigger - please tell me I won't be the only one blowing my nose loudly and sobbing like baby?!

Am I just pathetic or are we all a bit like this?!

I had to read an excerpt from it at a wedding recently, and it made everyone howl, so I don't think you're alone! I cry every time I read it.

I can't get through "Goodbye Mog" without blubbing or the bit at the end of Winnie the Pooh when Christopher Robin tells Pooh he's going to school!

Oh, it's wonderful. I'd never read it until two months ago, I can't believe everyone else had and I didn't know about it.

Here's the bit that makes me howl:

"What is REAL?" asked the Rabbit one day, when they were lying side by side near the nursery fender, before Nana came to tidy the room. "Does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick-out handle?"

"Real isn't how you are made," said the Skin Horse. "It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real."

"Does it hurt?" asked the Rabbit.

"Sometimes," said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. "When you are Real you don't mind being hurt."

"Does it happen all at once, like being wound up," he asked, "or bit by bit?"

"It doesn't happen all at once," said the Skin Horse. "You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand."

I cannot read "How much do I love you" or "Twas the night before Christmas" without losing it completely.

Love is a Handfull of Honey by Giles Andre - I think.

I get a lump in my throat before I even open it!

DS1 asks for the Make Mummy Cry Book!

And I have never read the Velveteen Rabbit either!

I bought it to read to DS but it just sits there on the shelf now...it's almost like I'm scared of it!!

It's soo sad, especially when he nearly gets burnt!!

I can manage "Guess How Much I Love You" but still get a little choked at the end

Yanbu. I had to read it at my mums wedding a few days after I found out I was pregnant with my first dc.

I had to develop a heart of stone to read it out loud.

How about "Love you Forever"

That gets me everytime (if you can over look the weird aspect of the mother driving accross town with a ladder in order to break into her grown up son's house to give him a cuddle in the night that is)

I couldn't read the Mog book where she dies (Mog's farewell). I had to get 6 year old dd to finish it for me lol while I had to go and find the tissues. We had had all Mogs stories for so long. Since they were babies really. And then Mog got old and a bit tired and went for a lie down .....

Oh no, is it a sad story?

I bought a secondhand copy from Oxfam last week. Only because I remember it being mentioned in an episode of 'Friends' - so it must be good!!

I've never been able to read Black Beauty, so it looks like I might struggle with this book too.

I also bawled in the theatre during Godspell when Jesus died
