AIBU?

To want to go back in time and put an early end to Johnny Cash's career (god rest his soul)

My partner and I used to really enjoy listening to the odd bit of Johnny Cash, and our delightful son (now 20 months) grew a bit partial to it too.

However for the past few months it has been get out of hand.

We don't have a TV but do let the LO listen to/watch live music on youtube sometimes. He learned how to ask for "Cash" quite quickly (he was actually saying "Cash" before he was saying mummy!)

It's now got to the stage that's all he wants to do if we're in the house (or anyone else's house with a computer) and mega-tantrums ensue and much whining of "Cash, Caaaa-aaash, Caaaa-aaa-aaa-aaash" over and over until we give in. Even then if we don't pick the right song (the right one changes every day by the way) then he goes mental and starts again!

What on earth do I do? He's a very musical little chap and plays us his own compositions on guitar and keyboard (honest) but I'm really at my tether's end here.

If I hear a Johnny Cash song ever again it will be too soon.

I am on my third glass of wine so apologies for the ramble!!

I am like that with the Mama Mia! DD2 constantly wants to listen to it! As a consequence I now hate Abba!!

My son plays Hung Up by Madonna over and over again, with occasional bouts of Britney Spears.

So count yourself lucky that your DS has better taste!

My 23 month old loves "the body electric" from Fame, and the Age of Aquarius from Hair. I think he may have a future involving musical theatre (and civil partnerships!)
